The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, and welcomes over 2000 visits of scientists per year to carry out world-class research in a wide variety of scientific fields.
We currently have a vacancy for an:
Occupational Health Nurse
The ESRF-ILL-EMBL medical service 'SMTC' (for 'Service de Médecine du Travail en Commun') is a joint occupational health service, whose exclusive mission is to prevent any alteration in the health of workers because of their work.
Duties:
You will work together with another nurse to ensure the smooth running of the service under the coordination of the Occupational Health Doctor. Each nurse takes care preferentially of the staff of the institute they are assigned to, however, to assure continuous service, you cover for the other institutes. You must have the knowledge and competences in terms of ionizing radiation risks.
Your main duties will be to:
. Provide medical and emergency care.
. Carry out complementary medical examinations (blood/urine tests, electrocardiography, blood pressure, pulmonary function testing, vision tests...).
. Welcome staff and visitors and provide health counselling; provide immunisation.
. Manage medical equipment and medicine stocks.
. Organise regular check-up of staff and perform administrative tasks including follow-up of medical and toxicological examinations.
. Register the occupational accidents and incidents occurring.
. Participate in the meetings of the CSSCT and other committees.
. Organise and carry out training/information sessions and deliver Health information in different fields including Biological Safety, Chemical Safety and Radiation Safety.
. Prepare the "Visites d'Information et de Prevention" (mandatory medical employee interview).
. Manage metrology assessment (noise, light, dust...).
. Provide statistics for the service annual activity report, bilan social CSSCT report.
. Organise blood donation sessions on site.
. Upkeep of the OH software.
Qualifications and experience:
. French "Diplôme d'Etat d'Infirmier·e" or any equivalent diploma allowing to work as a nurse in France with at least five years of professional experience, preferably in hospital environment (emergency service, intensive care.).
. A specialist qualification in Occupational Health and additional experience in occupational nursing and/or any other relevant training especially: First Aid trainer, ergonomics, risk prevention would be appreciated.
. Skills and knowledge must be up to date in the framework of the French DPC (Continuing Professional Development).
. Ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
. Good knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and have the ability to learn new software as needed.
This position requires autonomy and the ability to take decisions in emergency situations, but also team spirit, discretion and organisation skills. We are looking for someone autonomous, rigorous, with a good sense of priorities.
Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. A sound knowledge of English and French would be appreciated. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
