The Faculty of Medicine is one of five faculties of Umeå University.The faculty is an organization for education and research in the fields of medicine, dentistry and health care.It is comprised of 13 departments, 2 research centres and 12 academic programmes.Within the faculty there are approximately 3 000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students, and 1 000 employees including 500 teachers/researchers.One Postdoctoral fellow - Self-reported health in a global perspective A postdoctoral position at Epide-miology and Public Health Sciences, Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine, Umeå University, Sweden for the period June 1 - December 31, 2008.The position will be based at the Umeå international School of Public Health (UISPH) within the FAS-funded Centre for Global Health Research.Collaboration across the multidisciplinary team within the Epidemiology Unit as well as with a number of international partners will be required.The holder will be expected to be familiar with methods and techniques of measuring and analysing self-reported health within a global perspective.The aim is to further develop self-reported health assessment techniques and integrate it with other measures of health and health behaviour.The holder of the position is also expected to take part as a teacher/supervisor in the international Master of Public Health programme at UISPH and in the community health part of the programme for medical students.Qualifications Candidates should have a Doctoral degree related to health assessment, covering both quantitative and qualitative methods.The degree must have been completed no more than three years before the last date for application.Previous education should include a relevant Masters qualification, for example in Public health, and undergraduate qualifications in some aspect of biomedical sciences.Experience of cross-cultural collaborative research, would be advantageous.Fluency in written and spoken English as well as Swedish is a key requirement.A complete application should include: - Introductory letter with a statement of research interest - CV - A list of publications - Names and contacts of three persons willing to act as references.We look forward to receiving your application!
