During 15 intense and exciting months, the program will give you a holistic view of the Volvo Group’s global truck manufacturing organization. You will get to know our different brands and their plants and learn about our logistics organizations and activities. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end-to-end supply chain, aftermarket parts, and our remanufacturing operations. You will be part of the transformation in our industry, working with new technologies and building the competencies for tomorrow.

In parallel, you will grow your interpersonal skills through individual and team development sessions. You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will have the opportunity for several “on-the-job” rotations and experience working on real project assignments. In addition, you will join a number of learning modules where you get together with other program participants to take part in training and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group.

If rotational development, a global set up and designing the world of tomorrow aspects you are looking for in your next job context, this position might be something for you.

Our organization:
Production Logistics is part of Group Trucks Operations. We are an organization of approximately 700 employees, globally connected to deliver logistics solutions with world-class operational excellence. We ensure that transportation is purchased, the packaging is made available at our suppliers, the material is transported to our production facilities, and vehicles are distributed to our customers on time. We design and optimize the Production Logistics supply chain for the Volvo Group, prepare logistics for new products and drive the Sales & Operations Planning process. We strive for an innovative and diverse workplace, based on Volvo Group values with a high focus on customer success.
Supplier Management Road is part of the Transport Operations Europe organization within Production Logistics.

This is us, your new team:
We are an awesome and high-performing team sitting in the driver’s seat of securing the right performance from our contracted Logistic Service Providers (LSPs), many of them the world’s largest transport companies. We drive the tactical agenda together with our LSP’s and other stakeholders to maintain a good relationship, we act on data coming from our connected supply chain, and we take the central role in structural issues and larger crises.

Job Description:
As a supplier manager, you have a key role in developing our LSP’s capabilities when it comes to performance. Building strong relationships with the LSP’s in your portfolio is essential, all the way from Key Accounts to top management. In doing this, you will communicate our capacity requirements/volume forecasts and follow up on their performance, quality level and take actions on escalated deviations. You will also address improvement opportunities within the Transport Network, both related to LSPs and other areas.
Working as a Supplier manager requires great social and communication skills, but it also requires you to collect and study data on Transport Network performance and LSP performance by using our connected supply chain and our toolbox for root cause analysis. And of course, we are right now in the phase of preparing ourselves for tomorrow. Therefore, we think that having a digital skillset is very important for us!
Finally, when a supply chain crisis occurs you are the one our stakeholders and colleagues turn to. Being able to prioritize, being pragmatic and collaborative; and being proficient in communication is vital to safeguard Volvo’s production.

Who are you?
We think you are curious at heart and structured at mind – a person with a positive mindset that can turn problems into opportunities. You act and lead as a frontrunner for initiatives and with a strong urge to improve our way of working – in other words – making our supply chain leaner. You embrace new ways of working, especially digital and automized ones. Furthermore, you are a team player above all, but more than capable of working on your own. The big picture is important, but you can also roll up your sleeves and dwell on the details. Finally, the building blocks you bring to the table are your networking skills and ability to communicate clearly, synthesize and on time with respect for others.

Required knowledge/experience
A BSc or MSc in Supply Chain, Production or Industrial Management
Maximum two years of previous working experience, prior to or after graduation.
As this is a truly global program, most of your meetings and emails will be in English, hence you need to be fluent in both speaking and writing in English. Swedish is also a requirement for day to day communications locally.
Valid work permit for applied country if not a citizen.
You have a passion for developing people, operations and product and are a communicative team player that values the full diversity of the team.
Knowledge in circular economy, repair and recycling techniques is meriting
