The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology of different diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 250 staff. The Center for Eating Disorders Innovation (CEDI) is a new entity at the department of medical epidemiology and biostatistics, MEB, and has been established under the auspices of the Swedish Research Council.

We are an interdisciplinary team and we employ a diverse set of methodologies including genetic epidemiology, molecular genetics, microbiology, animal models to enhance knowledge about the causes, treatments, and prevention of eating disorders.

Duties

Operations manager for scientific, educational, and outreach work in the for the Center for Eating Disorders Innovation (CEDI). The appointee will report directly to Prof. Bulik and together with her build and execute the mission of CEDI. S/he will oversee the successful execution of multiple projects whose purpose is to rapidly gain insight into the causes of eating disorders and thereby advance treatment and prevention efforts. The main components of the position are: (a) to assist with oversight of all research, education, and outreach activities of CEDI; (b) to serve as deputy team leader; (c) to aid all project managers with administrative aspects of their studies; (d) to assist all trainees with administrative and scientific aspects of their studies; (e) to expand CEDI education and outreach efforts within Sweden and internationally; (f) to liaise with clinical, research, education, and advocacy groups across Sweden and internationally; (g) to assist with coordination and management of international collaborations and consortia. Additional duties include but are not limited to: (a) ensuring all ethical approvals are up to date; (b) participating in scientific strategy and prioritization for CEDI; (c) liaising with the Scientific Advisory Board and participating in annual reviews; (d) supervising students; (e) liaising with the KI biobank; (f) assisting MEB economy with budgeting and financial management; and (g) assisting all project managers and trainees to meet all project milestones.


Entry requirements

PhD in appropriate scientific discipline. Strong experience with project/program management/direction, operations, outreach, and advocacy. Familiarity with biomarker investigations. Experience working on biomedical studies with human participants.


Knowledge of all phases of biomarker and genomic studies or related investigations (ascertainment, phenotyping, DNA biobanking, genomic assays, quality control, and analysis). Familiarity with working with various medical groups in settings such as KI and KS. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with complex institutions with both clinical and research missions. Verified ability to successfully lead teams. Demonstrated ability to oversee multidisciplinary research groups. Strong relationships with clinicians, researchers, educators, and advocacy groups.
