Arbetsbeskrivning
For Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions and Rock Tools, we’re now looking for an Operations Manager to our site Västberga in Stockholm. Are you an inspirational and inviting leader with an eye for strategic development? Do you also have a passion for people and production, and are ready to create world class in our daily operations? Then this is the job for you!
Part of division Rock Tools, and our cutting-edge solutions for the mining and construction industries, is Production Unit Västberga. A unit with around 100 employees and the main manufacturer of the hard metal components (tungsten carbide inserts) used in all our rock drilling tools. With a highly automated production facility, close collaboration with our R&D department and strong customer focus, we offer you an exciting environment to say the least.
About the job
Joining us as Operations Manager, you have the overall responsibility for Rock Tools site and representation at site Västberga as well as the direct leadership of Production Unit Västberga. The job includes a mix of delivering on daily operational targets and leading the way for our long-term strategic development. You establish a proactive organization where health, safety and sustainability are vital parts of our operations and culture - always!
To ensure quality, on-time delivery and productivity, you implement plans and execute relevant activities that manage our production objectives, enhance our market position and meet our financial goals. With both the ability and the mandate to influence, you’re a driving force for change, and you make sure to understand every aspect of our business – from the pulse of the production all the way to our top management.
You actively work to bring people, processes and technology together; aiming to improve our unit and drive development and progress in important areas such as production, digitalization and sustainability. People involvement is a cornerstone in everything we do, and you create strong engagement among our employees. We also expect you to further strengthen customer focus, knowledge, skills and collaboration within our organization, and you lead and drive strategic questions cross-functionally.
Due to Västberga’s strategic capabilities and role in our global manufacturing network, you have many direct interfaces with senior management in Rock Tools, mainly with the Global Operations management team and our Product Lines. You’re a valued member of the management team of our Swedish Operations organization and lead the local management team at PU Västberga, and you report to the Head of Production Unit Sweden. Operating in a global business means that some travel is included in your job.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced operations leader, with focus on both people and results – someone with a systematic working style, who easily balances operational and strategic topics. You know how to drive change and inspire teams; where you ensure that every member feels included and equally important. You have previously held leading positions within operations or production, and you’re skilled in Lean manufacturing, quality assurance and managing industrial relations. Equally important is to understand business drivers, and how to transform a vision into strong activity plan to reach full potential. A relevant technical or business degree is of course beneficial, and you must be fluent in English, while knowledge of Swedish is a definite advantage.
You strive for high quality and great results, and you’re excellent at stakeholder management and at prioritizing and making decisions, as well as in challenging us to look at new perspectives. By communicating in a confident, structured and informative way that bring people on board, you set the direction for our operations and make things happen. Development, involvement and endurance are winning keys in this role, and you truly are a passionate and encouraging leader!

At Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, we believe in finding that perfect mix between work, family life and interests, and we happily support our employees in balancing this. For us, it’s also clear that our diversities form an amazing foundation for achieving great results.
