Job description
Being a Solution Architect at Columbus means that you become part of a strong team with a strong team spirit, where we bring together project management and IT.
We have well-established processes for running projects and sales where you get to be a focused solution architect and not a lot of roles at once. It is your job to understand customer needs and build trust with them, both in projects and during pre-sale. You will have a chance to work with a variety of projects and systems - but with a focus on the Optimizely suite.
We also have a deep library of knowledge internally. We bounce ideas between projects and customer teams and there is always someone to ask and learn from. In the role of Solution Architect you will be based in one of our offices in Sweden, but you will also collaborate with our colleagues in Denmark, Norway, UK and Poland.
Culture
This is how our Solution Architect Jens describes his role :
I have a broad role that is adaptable if needed. It's about being a mixture of generalist and specialist. My main task is to guide the choice of path for the technical solution, both regarding development and operation.
Before a project, I participate in workshops with the customer to map and detail the technical requirements. When the project is underway, I lead the development team and have a responsibility to ensure that stories can be converted into technical specifications, that the development leads to sustainable solutions and that the delivery corresponds to the customer expectations. It is important to have an understanding of what is a good or bad solution, short or long-term, and to be clear about it both internally and externally.
I work closely with our frontend and backend dev leads who, unlike me, spend almost all of their time coding. It is a constructive collaboration where we complement each other and relieve each other.
Several of my colleagues and clients are based elsewhere in Sweden or in the world, and that is something I personally appreciate. I would think that I speak as much English as Swedish on a normal working day.
