The Role
This R&D Specialist role is an expansion of the paint expert function within Plastal's central R&D organization. You will be responsible for the definition and execution of research projects in close collaboration with our Materials Specialist, Test Lab, Production Technicians and external collaboration partners. You will also give input and support in the strategic direction for Plastal's R&D activities within your field of expertise.
We are looking for someone who has experience from paint production or application and/or is willing to develop within this field.
As an expert you will have three main focus areas:
Drive paint related R&D projects for future applications
Support our Product Development teams
Support our Manufacturing Sites with paint specialist competence
You, as a part of the R&D team, will be responsible for the definition and execution of research projects within paint field and work in close collaboration with our Materials Specialists, Laboratory personnel and other specialist functions within R&D and Engineering department. You will also give input to and support the strategic direction for Plastal's R&D activities.
Our Paint specialists work in close cooperation with our cross-functional development teams and therefore areinvolved and supporting in all phases from quotation through development, launch and continuous production. You will be responsible for gate keeping the release of engineering material.
Furthermore, you are expected to support our equipment engineers in development of new projects, or adaptation of existing equipment, and support paint process engineers in our fully automated paint lines at our international manufacturing sites. You will be a technical interface both to our customers and suppliers within your field of expertise.
Education
Bachelor level or higher within chemical engineering, material engineering or similar science degree, alternatively extensive experience from similar positions
Experience
At least 5 years of experience within paint development, production or paint application
At least 5 years professional experience with an automotive supplier or manufacturer
Strong theoretical and practical background in automated paint applications
Experience from manufacturing processes and/or product development are valuable and meritorious
Experience in lab or validation testing within automotive is valuable as well as the ability to relate results to technical requirements
Other Requirements
Fluent in English (written and orally), knowledge in Swedish is beneficial
Analytical and well organized
Able to work independently but also a good team player
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
This position will require some travel to customers, suppliers, production sites and exhibitions
