Patents together with other Intellectual Property rights are central in developing and maintaining SCA’s competitive advantage across the globe and constitute an important building block in our business strategy. The SCA Intellectual Property Department is globally responsible for all our IP activities and is strategically positioned within our Global Hygiene Category.
We are now looking for a qualified European Patent Attorney who is seeking an opportunity to work in a global and innovative setting!

The SCA IP Department is globally responsible for all our trademark, design and patent activities and is strategically positioned within our Global Hygiene Category.
As Patent Attorney you will be responsible for managing a global patent portfolio, proactively support projects, file oppositions and defend IP rights. You will work globally in close cooperation with our Innovation teams, R&D and the Business units. Our team is based in Sweden, France, Germany, USA and China. As Patent Attorney, you report to an IP Director. The position is located in our new building in Gothenburg.

Main Tasks
Strategically manage and drive the development of the SCA patent portfolio
Proactively and closely work with Innovation teams and R&D teams in order to identifyand protect inventions that are of value to SCA
Independently draft and prosecute patent applications
Perform competitor patent mappings and file oppositions against competitors’ patents
Proactively support the SCA organization globally with various patent matters including freedom-to-operate, infringement and validity analyses
Promoting IP disciplines with stakeholders

Key Competencies
A master degree in mechanics, physics, chemistry or equivalent
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an in-house patent attorney or a patent attorney in private practice
Qualified European Patent Attorney and possible corresponding national qualification
Knowledge of the full range of IP disciplines, in particular Designs, Trademarks and IP agreements is a plus
Excellent language skills in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of other languages is a merit
Ability to regularly travel in Europe, mainly Germany (Munich) and France (Kunheim close to German and Swiss border)
