Arbetsbeskrivning
New innovative solutions based on sustainable forest resources are one of Södra's main focus areas. Within Södra Innovation, we work both to continue to offer an attractive offer to the market - and to build a future sustainable society. Through our large-scale and long-term investments, climate-smart products and processes will have the opportunity to become an important part of the green transition.
With new product development comes a partly new world of patents, where we are now looking for a new colleague who can navigate us forward in this exciting and important area.
About the role
As a Patent Coordinator, you will be given the chance to become a key player in our patent management. Of course, there are quite a few tasks within that scope and slightly difficult to fully explain to a full extent in an ad like this, but we'll give it a try below.
The role will have the overall responsibility for managing our patent portfolio. Typical tasks may include coordinating patent work all the way from patent mapping, FTO, monitoring down the line to patent applications. You will work in a matrix organization and therefore, of course, have several colleagues around you with whom you can discuss and bounce ideas off each other. We also have a patent group (where you will act as the convening part), consisting of different colleagues from Södra Innovation's management. In addition to all this we also work with external agents/parties in the patent area, so for that reason it will be important to be able to provide clear and precise orders to them while also remaining an attractive customer. Of course, it will take a while to get fully familiar with our specific patents, but the idea is that over time, you will become our patent expert in both internal and external dialogues and everyone’s go-to-person if they have a patent-related question.
Other tasks may involve coordinating our various research collaborations, where you will come into contact with both internal and external stakeholders. Establishing and interpreting agreements, properly regulated IP rights, etc. related to this is also something that you probably find a bit exciting and something you will spend some time on from time to time.
The position is a permanent full-time position, located in Värö.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has a Master of Science in chemical engineering, technical physics, mechanical engineering, or related fields. A relevant doctoral degree is seen as an advantage but no requirement. Fluent language skills in English are a prerequisite, and basic knowledge of Swedish is a requirement as well.
To enjoy and perform well in the role, you must have broad overall knowledge of patent work. If you are a patent engineer, it could be meritorious but not a requirement, however you will be needing some knowledge in the legal/juridical field.
Before we proceed with describing the perfect candidate in terms of background and skills, it feels important to emphasize a couple of things. We understand that we probably won’t find a person who meets exactly all of our requirements and desires. But we are looking for the right person, and we believe that he/she possesses at least several of the qualities and competencies we mention. But perhaps there is something we have missed or forgot to mention? Please tell us in your application why we should choose you and how you think you could contribute in the role as Patent Coordinator at Södra.
That being said, we believe that some qualities that will facilitate your journey with us in this role are that you like to take the initiative and possess a strong drive. You have the ability and willingness to cooperate and communicate and understand the importance of creating good relationships, both internally and externally. You are a person who can balance a strategic approach with operational execution, and also have a good ability to organize and prioritize your work.
Working life at Södra
At Södra, you have the opportunity to develop your professional self while also contributing to sustainable forestry that creates value for people and the environment. We place great value on your personal commitment and are keen to ensure that you feel happy and well. For your wellbeing, we have collective agreements and good conditions, as well as several benefits that are useful both at work and during your leisure time.
The team you will be joining consists of specialists and project managers, each of whom is responsible for one of Södra's innovation areas. Your area of responsibility will thus concern patents but also research, and alongside these tasks, you will participate in various projects based on your knowledge, experience, and interests. We have a helpful and non-prestigious environment where everyone contributes with their skills and experiences, and your immediate manager - whose name is Henric - prefers a coaching leadership style with great freedom for his employees.
What do you think, could this be something for you? Then you know what to do. We are really looking forward to hearing from you!
