Description
Tetra Pak offers a challenging and highly international work environment together with a high degree of autonomy for experienced patent counsels and a variety of products and technologies.
As a Patent Counsel within the Development & Services Organization (DSO) platform of the corporate Legal & Tax function, you will network with Legal, Patent and Trademark Counsel of the platform and an established world-wide set of IP agents as well as colleagues in DSO. A strong interest in business matters and a broad technological interest are required.
Main responsibilities
- Lead IPR Review of a DSO unit to decide on disposition of IPR matters
- dentify inventions and evaluate the business relevance of inventions and various prospective IPR
- Draft, file and prosecute patent applications in multiple jurisdictions
- Provide IPR training and guidance to project managers.
- Provide IPR guidance to internal development teams and Management
- Support protection of trade secrets and file pre-emptive publications
- Manage and instruct external counsel
- Provide strategic advice to unit Management and implement IP strategy
- Perform validity and infringement studies and advise upon potential risks related to 3rd party IPR
- Conduct patent opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office
- Support patent and other IPR-related litigation
- Manage patent portfolio of a DSO unit
Qualifications
A successful candidate is a national and European patent attorney with a background in physics, chemistry, mechanical or electrical engineering . At least 4 years post-qualification experience in private practise, industry or patent office is required.
An important aspect of the Patent Counsel position is the ability to collaborate with the development centres and technical service organisations around the globe, as well as with the commercial and general legal functions. Consequently, candidates for this position must have distinctive interest in interdisciplinary subjects and be motivated team-players. Fluency in English is essential, both written and verbal, together with excellent interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills. Fluency in Swedish or Italian would be an advantage. Qualities of integrity, discretion and confidentiality are also prerequisites for the role.
