Overview
We are now looking for a driven Patent Engineer in the start of their career who is looking for an opportunity to grow in a global and innovative setting!

Intellectual property rights are central in developing and maintaining SCA’s competitive advantage across the globe and constitute an important building block in our business strategy. The SCA IP Department is globally responsible for all our trademark, design and patent activities and is strategically positioned within our Global Hygiene Category.
As Patent Engineer you will be responsible for managing a global patent portfolio and proactively support projects. You will work globally in close cooperation with our Innovation teams, R&D and the Business units. Our team is based in Sweden, France, Germany, USA and China. As Patent Engineer, you report to an IP Director. The position is located in our new building in Gothenburg.

Main Tasks
Work closely with engineers and product developers and proactively support projects to identify and protect inventions that are of value to SCA.
Draft and prosecute patent applications with support from senior colleagues.
Manage and drive the development of the assigned patent portfolio in a competitive and cost efficient way.
Support the SCA organization globally with various patent matters including freedom-to-operate.
Perform competitor patent mappings and contribute to the tracking of competitive activities.
Support oppositions against competitors’ patents.

Key Competencies
A master degree in mechanics, physics, chemistry, electronics or equivalent.
A minimum of 2 years working experience within or in close connection to this field.
A genuine interest in and understanding of the full range of IP disciplines.
Excellent language skills in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of other languages is a merit.
