What you will do

Volvo Cars is looking to recruit a Patent Paralegal to be part of the Global IP team. You will be working closely with colleagues in the patent team. The role gives you the opportunity to develop into an expert in all aspects of patent administration with support from experienced colleagues.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to, providing patent-related support to the patent attorneys, and also administrative tasks relating to the patent portfolio. The work includes both more substantive legal and administrative tasks and more general administrate tasks, including but not limited to maintaining records in the IP management system, correspondence with outside counsels, time limit tracking and recording, annuities management, document handling, record keeping, and inventor remuneration management. The patent paralegal communicates with stakeholders within the organization as well as external parties such as outside counsel and governmental entities, and may also coordinate various formal documents and assignments. The patent paralegal may also be engaged in the development of tools, templates, and communication material.

Truly Global, Proudly Scandinavian

We’re at the forefront of the mobility revolution, growing fast and bringing together forward-thinking minds from all over the world. Volvo Cars’ headquarters is located in Gothenburg, but the company has offices and plants across the globe. You will be interacting and collaborating with a diverse and international team of colleagues on initiatives influencing many aspects of the business.

This means that we are looking for someone who - on a personal level - shares our values. Being enthusiastic, curious, collaborative, and interested in business and technology with high integrity and a pragmatic approach toward things goes a long way.

Who you are

We believe you have experience as a patent administrator and are looking for opportunities to develop further. You are curious and interested in acquiring new skills and learning new tasks and working methods. You are a well-organized individual with good administrative skills, accurate and attentive to details also under time pressure. You are used to working independently and have the ability to take own initiative and prioritize.

As a person, you are service-minded, structured, detail-oriented, and have a focus on getting things done and delivering support on time. You have a strong ability to cooperate in a team and enjoy supporting colleagues. You contribute to good teamwork and a positive working environment. Because the Intellectual Property teams manage very strategic and sensitive matters, integrity is natural for you. You have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. You are also proficient at working and writing in English, as well as fluent in Swedish.

Other qualifications include:
•    Secondary education, education within IP administration is advantageous
•    At least two years of experience in working with patent-related administrative tasks either in a law firm, or in-house IP/patent department.
•    Knowledge of European and international patent administration practice and legally required formalities.
•    Good knowledge of MS Office.
