About ISLK
ISLK - International School of Lund is an IB World School authorized to teach the IB Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme.
The school works in close collaboration with Katedralskolan where the IB Diploma Programme is offered. ISLK is a growing school and has appr. 470 students at the moment. More information about the school can be found at: www.lund.se/islk
Work
In this role you will work in close collaboration with a librarian, programme coordinators and teachers to enhance the role of the library in the School. You will develop student literacy skills and make library activities a vital part of student learning and development. You will work with students ages 3 to 15 to improve student learning, motivate and engage reading as well as promote curriculum connections to the library, reading and literacy. You will be working in the library as well as in the classroom and other school settings. The position may start with a probation time of 6-12 months and after the agreed period of time the position will be turned into a permanent position if agreed by both parties.
Qualifications and experience
- Certified and trained teacher with experience of working in a school library or with a specialisation in literacy.
- Experience of working with students ages 3 to 15 to develop literacy skills, motivate and engage reading.
- Previous IB teaching experience and/or library work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and engage groups of students in classrooms and assembly settings.
- Proven strengths in collaboration across many age groups, with teachers and learning support assistants.
- Demonstrated effective communication with the school community to promote curriculum connections to the library, reading, and literacy.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and engage groups of students in classrooms and assembly settings.
- Native English speaker or high proficiency in English.
- Proven experience using and implementing digital tools to support access to research and resources.
Desirable qualifications/experience
- Experience of organising and leading school events connected to literacy and theme days.
- Experience of working in a multicultural and multilingual community.
- Knowledge and understanding of implementing/working with ATL and referencing (ISLK uses MLA) across the continuum through the lens of the library to enhance student Learning.
- Knowledge of other languages than English and Swedish.
