Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity that presents itself for an experienced Performance DBA to join a performance engineering team to work on a variety of application development projects. The individual will work closely with technical leads and developers to assist in both logical and physical database design along with database & SQL performance tuning and optimization.
Key responsibilities
Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability
Create and enforce database development standards and ensure cross-team coordination
Coach and mentor developers in our organization. Ensure that our ways of working are consistent across the teams
Plan and implement data platform resources (Azure SQL database/elastic pools for scale and performance)
Implement secure cloud environments (Configure Authentication, Implement Encryption and compliance control for sensitive data)
Monitor and optimize operational resources (Index and Statistics Maintenance)
Perform automation of tasks (Implements Alerts, Schedule and Automate tasks in Azure)
Plan and implement a High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) environment
Perform administration on Cloud and On-Prem Environments
Qualifications
To succeed in this role you must have:
Ability to troubleshoot Database mirroring and SQL Always on
Knowledge of NoSQL and other cloud databases such as Cassandra or Postgres
Strong Azure Cloud Infrastructure experience
Knowledge of performance storage disks
Backup and recovery
SQL 2016 essential
Linux (preferably Red Hat)
MS Windows Server and Active Directory
Web-server skills/IIS/Web-site management, Powershell Scripting
Production SQL Server database administration on 2008R2, 2012 (Enterprise & Standard editions), SQL 2014, and SQL 2016
SQL 2019 migration experience would be advantageous
Strong Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, etc)
Significant SQL Server experience in a Production environment responsible for design, build, and configuration or equivalent
Significant experience developing in SQL Server Stored Procedures
