Job Description
We want to operate, our services to a level that exceeds customer expectations and speaks to the trust our customers and partners have placed in us. The purpose of this role is to operate as a test engineer to drive platform performance and ensure Snow's runtime (i.e., production) SaaS platforms, and on-premise software offerings are proactively managed to avoid bottlenecks and other performance issues that could adversely affect end users.
The role holder will work on a variety of application development projects, and work as part of the performance test engineering team responsible for developing and championing non-functional testing techniques and producing performance test scripts to provide the appropriate level of test coverage.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
Design, implement and maintain performance test frameworks to facilitate delivery of performance test scripts.
Perform Non-Functional testing (NFT) within an agile software development environment with a view to aiding continuous delivery via CircleCI or similar.
Analyze and understand workloads, systems and performance expectations.
Design test cases based on requirements and produce performance test scripts providing the appropriate level of test coverage.
Collect and report test metrics and statistics for a range of audiences, and liaise with cross-functional teams and our customers to formulate test documents.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience
Proficient in coding bespoke performance frameworks across a variety of languages, including JMeter, and strong exposure to using the DevOps toolkit for integrating performance feedback and capture with continuous testing.
Excellent NFT experience including Soak, Load, Volumetric, Stress and Capacity, and a passion for performance testing, tuning, and optimization of workloads.
Strong experience with monitoring/visualization/time series/observability technologies is desirable (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Sumologic), and good understanding of microservice based architectures and API component testing.
Able to analyze and assimilate infrastructure resource metrics (such as CPU Utilization, Memory usage, Network usage, Garbage Collection and DB Parameters and DB Reports) to verify the performance of applications and Infrastructure, identifying memory leaks, connection issues and bottleneck problems.
Qualifications
Strong expertise or professional qualification in the application, infrastructure and database tuning and optimization, and performance testing tools using such as JMeter/Performance center/eggplant/selenium.
Strong expertise or professional qualification in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, AKS), and strong Cloud experience in Azure or AWS.
