This is an exciting opportunity to join the AstraZeneca PET imaging group at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden as a PET imaging scientist. You will be leading efforts to explore novel applications of molecular imaging to deliver datasets that will have direct impact on the drug discovery and development at AstraZeneca. You will become part of a team of science focused imaging scientists dedicated to delivering decision making data to projects.

What you'll do
We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Associate Director with substantial experience in molecular imaging science - including PET radiochemistry, autoradiography, translational imaging and radioligand development - and a track record of scientific excellence to join our PET Imaging Team in Stockholm, Sweden. As a PET imaging expert you will bring your expertise to deliver datasets that will have direct impact on the drug discovery process and pipeline. You will become part of a team of science focused imaging scientists dedicated to delivering decision making data to projects and having the opportunity to build a rewarding and meaningful career as part of the team committed to improving the lives of millions with cancer.

Working in this scientific leadership role you will apply your technical and scientific knowledge to explore novel and innovative strategies to enable project decisions with multi-disciplinary research and project teams

Works independently with minimal supervision to plan, conduct and analyse experiments
*
Work in close collaboration with our colleagues at Karolinska Institutet to deliver data packages in a timely fashion
*
Providing expert interpretation of the data, identifying innovative solutions to problems and putting forward plans for further experiments
*
Maintaining an awareness of current developments in the literature to support research and discovery projects.
Essential for the role
*
PhD (or equivalent) in radiochemistry with at least several years of research experience as a post-PhD in academic/non-academic healthcare organizations, preferably as an independent scientist.
*
Previous experience in leading radiochemistry and PET ligand development projects.
*
Good understanding of radiochemical method development and the Implementation/validation of new technologies.
*
Experience with the application of molecular imaging to study drug effects, biodistribution, and target engagement.
*
Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams with colleagues in multiple locations to build and maintain constructive working relationships.
*
Positive and collaborative team player with willingness to improve and learn new skills.
*
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and strong capabilities in experimental design and execution.
*
Excellent communication and presentation skills to report data in a clear and concise manner, with a clear understanding of its implications.
*
A proven track-record of productivity including authorship in peer-reviewed scientific publications

Supervision experience
*
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and in writing
Desirable for the role
*
Previous experience from pharmaceutical industry.
*
An understanding of pharmaceutical discovery and development processes (from preclinical to clinical stages)
