LINKÖPINGS UNIVERSITET
Applications are invited for the position of a
Ph D student in Organic Electronics aimed at Bio-Electronics
at the Department of Science and Technology (ITN), Campus Norrköping.
Organic electronic materials open for new opportunities in bridging the gap in between electronics and biology. This work aims at developing and studying organic bioelectronics focusing on realising novel communication pathways between electronics and cells in order to regulate signalling within cells and in tissues. The goal is to develop bioelectronic functionalities that translate electronic signals to bio-signals. Cells signalling is controlled and regulated by the surface chemistry, topography, ions and biomolecules etc. Within this work, the PhD student will be given the opportunity to develop bioelectronics, such as electronic medicines, electroactive cell substrates and artificial organs. This research will be conducted in close collaboration with the cell biology department of Karolinska Institutet.
Duties: As a Ph D student you are supposed to concentrate on your Ph D studies. An employee may, within certain limits, also work with teaching, research and administration. Such work, however, before the Ph.D. studies have been concluded, may not represent more than 20 percent of full working hours.
Qualifications: M.Sc in physics, chemistry, engineering biology, electrical engineering, or corresponding education.
LiU shall continue to develop as an attractive and creative work place characterized by equal opportunities, and therefore works actively to promote diversity and gender equality.
A majority of our Ph D students within the department are men, which is why precedence will be given to women, in cases where qualifications are deemed otherwise equivalent.
Appointment time: Ph.D. studies in Sweden lead to a Ph. D. degree after four years full time studies. Appointment time is one year at a time. A person who has been appointed and who successfully follows his/her study plan has priority to prolongation of the appointment. The total time can not exceed a period which corresponds to more four years full time studies.
Applications that arrive too late will not be considered.
