Pharmacovigilance Scientist, Pharmacist

Pharmacovigilance Scientist, Pharmacist

Arbetsbeskrivning

Would you like to contribute to the safe use of medicines globally? We are looking for a talented, early-career pharmacist to join our multi-disciplinary research team. You will help advance the science of pharmacovigilance by exploring the risks and benefits of medicines.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent non-profit foundation and centre for international service and scientific research. As the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, we seek to identify adverse effects of medicines based on real-world data – so-called safety signals. An important source of information are the over 20 million individual case reports of suspected adverse drug reactions in the WHO global database, VigiBase, which we maintain and analyse. These reports have been collected by more than 130 national pharmacovigilance centres across the world who are members of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring.

In UMC’s Research section, we analyse risks and benefits of medicines in use. We do this on our own and in collaboration with experts around the world. We develop improved or new methods to analyse observational medical data to support wise therapeutic decision-making, in relation for example to drug interactions or risk factors for adverse drug reactions. Finally, we contribute to education and product development initiatives to support effective pharmacovigilance practices around the world.
