The vision of the AstraZeneca Patient Safety Centre of Excellence organisation is to pursue functional excellence for Patient Safety across the business by providing specialised expertise in Safety Science, Pharmacovigilance and Risk Management, while optimising Safety Processes, Systems, Policy, Compliance and Governance. What you'll do
We are looking to expand our existing Pharmacovigilance Systems team with an additional member. The PV Systems team manages and supports the technical systems (safety database and associated systems) involved in managing, tracking and analysing adverse events. The work ranges from more operational tasks to shaping overall strategies and translating them into practice.
As a PV systems specialist/scientist, you
*
support effective evaluation of safety information by providing knowledge about processes and technical systems
*
work in the interface between business and technical teams, ensuring the systems meet internal and external requirements
*
ensure documentation relating to system and system updates meets internal standards and procedures
*
identify opportunities for innovative solutions, including machine-learning and other automation
*
ensure the quality of business-related content of relevant improvement project proposals and associated documentation
The position is a 70% part-time role.
Essential for the role
*
At least bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline
*
Proven competence, with minimum of 3 years pharmacovigilance or closely-related industry experience
*
Broad knowledge of the safety information and analytics tools required to support drug development and marketed brands, including an understanding of clinical trials, regulatory safety obligations and pharmacovigilance practices
*
Experience in data management, data visualisation and reporting tools
Desirable for the role
*
Higher degree in a clinical or safety-related discipline
*
Significant experience (5+ years) in pharmacovigilance with proven record of supporting tools/solutions to address safety information in conjunction with IT
*
Significant experience in system validation activities
*
Ability to articulate complex business needs in the context of IT systems design, architecture and development
*
Business awareness of wider IT developments within AZ or the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in relation to the design and deployment of data sources, analytical tools, informatics solutions and systems
*
Excellent interpersonal skills to influence/shape their particular area of expertise, along with the ability to understand multiple, complex business needs and identify ways in which existing or newly designed information or analytics solutions could address these in an effective and efficient manner
*
Experience in working across different geographic locations, organisations, and cultures to drive vendor and customer relationship management
