We are looking for a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering Sciences within biomedical optics and systems biology
Your work assignments
The planned research lies in the intersection between biomedical optics and systems biology, where key elements are bio-optical techniques for imaging of the microcirculation and the development of mathematical models that connects tissue metabolism to the microcirculation. You will work independently to analyze data from microcirculatory processes using bio-optical models describing light transport in tissue. You will also develop mechanistic mathematical models that capture the dynamical processes of the microcirculation and utilize computational and statistical tools to analyze large datasets to investigate the relationship between microcirculation and cardiovascular disease, with the goal to develop new risk measures of cardiovascular disease.
As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
Your workplace

You have conducted an independent project (degree project) of at least 30 ECTS at Master’s level in the field for the research area.
You should have documented experience within biomedical optics, mathematical modeling of biological systems and statistics, from education or previous positions, as well as an interest in clinical related work. Further, you should also have documented experience in programming in Matlab and/or python.
You should have pedagogical skills and an interest in teaching. Previous teaching experience is meriting for the position.
