The group works in Very-High-Energy gamma-ray astronomy and astrophysics and participates in the H.E.S.S. experiment and in the CTA project. In addition, the group is proposing the construction of ALTO, a wide-field and high-altitude gamma-ray observatory to be installed in the southern hemisphere, please visit the website lnu.se/en/ap for more information.
The successful candidate will be based in Växjö (Småland, Sweden), and will work on data analysis and hardware activities, among which there are:
•
optimization of the analysis of ALTO Monte Carlo simulations (signal/background discrimination, possible angular/energy resolution improvements, etc.); laboratory tests and performance evaluation of the ALTO prototype(s);
•
analysis and interpretation of multi-wavelength data of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) observed by H.E.S.S. and possible contribution to the CTA AGN programme
The PhD position duration is 4 years (full research time).
