Ph.D.position in Natural Sciences with focus in Physical Geography, Road Climate in the Department of Earth Sciences

Position description:
We seek a Ph.D.student for road climat studies focusing on the modeling of surface temperature and road conditions.Your work will include both GIS modeling of landscape variation for the integration of predictive models and also studies on how forecasts could best be designed for practical use in the operation of winter roads.You will work closely with users of forecast data as well as personnel involved in the development of forecasting models.The work is conducted in close collaboration with international research groups and road authorities.

The project is funded by the Swedish Transport Administration through The Center for Operations and Maintenance which allows to quickly establish a wide contact with other students and researchers in this field.

The student we seek:
We want you to have a big interest in applied climatology and GIS.Applicants will be advantage if they have completed university-level courses or have an academic degree (Bachelor of Arts or equiva-lent) with focus on Earth Sciences or
Atmospheric Sciences.
The research environment: As a student you will work within the Road Climate Group (http://www.gvc.gu.se/Department_of_earth_sciences/Research/climate/road-climate/)
in the Department of Earth Sciences (GVC), University of Gothenburg.

The studies will lead to a Ph.D.in Natural Sciences with focus in Physical Geography.The Ph.D.studies can begin immediately or by mutual agreement.At full-time study assumes four years but can be extended to up to five years through teaching and tutoring of basic course students.
