Do you want to develop yourself through a PhD-position within electrochemistry? Are you thrilled by experimental testing and research in electrolysis? If this sounds interesting, then we might have an exciting PhD-position for you!
Sweden is facing a gigantic transformation of the energy system, and in that transformation, RISE will play a big part.
Together with industry, academia, and the public sector, we develop competitive solutions and conditions that drive sustainable development forward. But we need to grow, and we need your help. Your help to find new solutions for a sustainable future, together. Do you want to join us? We hope so!
About us
At Energy Conversion we are working with research within the area of electrification, from technical components within batteries and fuel cells, to complete concept studies. When the societal challenges become more complex, a powerful innovation partner is needed to offer solid support and contribute with several perspectives. The Energy Conversion team performs customer adapted research and contributes with expertise and strategic advice, supporting the development of a sustainable transport system within required technical areas. We cooperate with both large and small companies, research institutes, universities, and colleges around common challenges. We are now expanding our team with the aim of supporting society in the transformation towards a fossil free transport system, and we are looking for a person who wants to work with analysis and to actively drive development forward.
About the position
The PhD-project is run within the Swedish research center PUSH (Production, Use and Storage of Hydrogen) which works on technical and scientific solutions for the use of hydrogen in sustainable energy systems. The work will be carried out in close cooperation with other PhD-students and post-docs within the PUSH center. Researchers from KTH, Lund University, Umeå University, Chalmers, and RISE are part of the PUSH research organisation.
The research project
Hydrogen is expected to play a key role in a future fossil free society within sectors such as energy, transport, and production of chemicals. This PhD position will focus on long-term testing and materials development within the field of anion exchange membrane electrolysis for hydrogen production. The research will investigate components of the electrolysis assembly, e.g., bipolar plates and porous transport layers. The research task will be focused on experimental work. For example, long-term testing and electrochemical performance characterisation in combination with contact resistance measurements and instrumental materials characterisation, including subsequent analysis work.
The PhD-position is located at RISE in Borås with registration as a doctoral student at KTH, Applied Electrochemistry in Stockholm.
Who are you?
This PhD-position requires that you have a Master of science within a suitable area of science or technology, for example engineering. A strict requirement is that you have the formal competence needed to register as a doctoral student. You should master English orally and in writing. Good knowledge in Swedish is also a merit.
Knowledge within chemical engineering, electrochemistry, electrolysis and/or corrosion is merited.
Are we right for each other?
At RISE, we like diversification, and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. We do not promise you an easy job, but we can promise an exciting journey where we, together with committed and competent colleagues, contribute to a sustainable future and to securing an edge in global competition. Do you want to join the journey?
