MDH in Eskilstuna and Västerås is one of Sweden?s biggest university colleges with its 14 000 students and 900 employees. It has a long tradition of cooperating with society and has entered strategic agreements with both the public and the private sector. Most study programmes fall into four main areas: economy, health and welfare, education, and technology. With its research, which often takes the form of co-production on the regional, national and global levels, MDH aims to generate useful solutions for societal development. In 1999, MDH was the world?s first university to be environmentally certified, and in 2006, it was the first higher education institution in Sweden to be certified for its work environment.
The ECSEL research project AMASS is recruiting two new PhD-students and two Post docs.
AMASS (Architecture-driven, Multi-concern and Seamless Assurance and Certification of Cyber-Physical Systems) is expected to build on top of results achieved in the context of OPENCOSS and n/p SafeCer projects. AMASS targets increased efficiency via reuse and seamless interoperability in the context of Cyber Physical Systems development and certification. The research in AMASS will be performed in close collaboration with industrial partners.
Position description
We are offering a PhD student position in the area of Applied Ontology and Knowledge Engineering, within the ECSEL AMASS research project. This PhD student position focuses on research aimed at: (i) identifying fundamental concepts for multi-concern assurance (ii) developing / applying methods for knowledge engineering in the context of multi assurance.
As a PhD student, you will spend a minimum of 80% of your time on research studies. The rest will be spent on educational and/or administrative duties.
Qualifications
Only those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education may be appointed to doctoral studentships. For futher information see Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 1993:100).
To qualify as a PhD student, you should have a master's level degree with a solid documented background in embedded systems, computer science or computer/software engineering.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
Assessment Criteria
A selection will be made among qualified applicants on the basis of the ability to benefit from doctoral education. We will use the following assessment criteria:
Analytical skills
Documented subject knowledge of relevance to the area of research
Other documented knowledge or experience that may be relevant to doctoral studies within AMASS.
Communication skills and ability to work both individually and in teams with researchers from both academia and industry
The qualifications of the applicants will be evaluated on an overall basis.
