Institutionen för systemteknik (ISY) är central inom olika ingenjörsutbildningar både vad gäller baskunskaper och tillämpade kurser. Forskningen baseras främst på industriella behov och spänner från helt grundläggande frågor till mera applikationsnära frågor.

Project description

MarineUAS is an EU-funded doctoral program to strategically strengthen research training on Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems for Marine and Coastal Monitoring. It is a comprehensive researcher training program across a range of partners in several countries designed to have high impact on the training of individual researchers and their knowledge, skills and future careers. The PhD students in the MarineUAS project will participate in an extensive training program and take part in secondments between partners in the consortium.

The research in MarineUAS at Linköping University will concern robust navigation systems and model-based advisory systems and there will be both theoretical and application-oriented challenges to address. Duties
As a PhD student you will primarily devote yourself to your research. As a PhD student you are limited to work with education and administration up to 20 percent of full time.

Qualifications

We seek highly motivated persons with a Master´s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Signal Processing, Aeronautics, or related areas. More specifically, the applicant is presumed to have a deep knowledge in control engineering and sta´tistical processing as well as excellent communication skills in English. Any knowledge about topics like date-based modeling, communication systems, and autonomous systems is an advantage.

To be eligible for this position according to the rules of the European Commission, it is a requirement that the applicant has not stayed in Sweden for more than 1 year during the past 3 years. Furthermore, it is also a requirement that the applicant has less than 4 years of research experience since his or her Mastter´s degree. Qualified to PhD studentships are only those who are or have been admitted to graduate studies.

Appointment time
The appointment will be until further notice for a maximum of one year at a time. A doctoral student may not be employed during a period exceeding eight years. The total time of appointment must not exceed the equivalent of four years´ full time research training.

Starting date 
By agreement.

Salary
The commencing salary for a graduate is at present 28 000 SEK. The salary for PhD students is based on the department’s salary scale.
