Position description
Research will be conducted within the project DIGICOGS – DIGital Twins for Industrial COGnitive Systems through Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence. 

DIGICOGS aims to provide a digital twin that combines sensor information, AI/ML and big data analytics that underpin the new wave of the cognitive system. Here, cutting-edge solutions will be achieved through data-driven analytics, real-time monitoring and intelligent adaptive prediction based on a combination of information i.e., sensor data, domain and context. DIGICOGS comprises MDH (a research group), Seco Tools (supplier to the process industry) & GKN (manufacturing industry). So, DIGICOGS technologies will strengthen Swedish industrial competence and competitiveness.

The position focuses on advanced data collection, data analytics, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI) , and signal processing; as well as data modeling and simulation environment integration. The work requires theoretical studies on the state of art, together with software development and testing. As a PhD student, you are expected to develop independent ideas and to communicate research results in oral and written form. The employment includes collaboration and co-production both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications
Only those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education may be appointed to doctoral studentships. For futher information see Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 1993:100).

The applicant should have a master's level degree in Intelligent Embedded Systems. Proficiency in English, both written and oral, is required.

At least 2 years working experience in any Swedish industry. Knowledge/experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing.

Extensive programming experience is required, with knowledge of Python, MATLAB, and data analysis platforms such as Hadoop, TensorFlow being of high merit.

Professional experience in data analytics, especially predictive modelling for Power Transfer Unit through assembly line and/or domain knowledge of Industry 4.0, are considered of merit.

Teaching experience, e.g., teacher assistant, and online AI/ML course development are considered of merit
