Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Environmental Assessment in Uppsala 1 PhD student in the research education subject: Ecology The importance of ecological linkages between aquatic and terrestrial organisms for the stability and resilience of headwater streams Applications are encouraged for a 4-year PhD position focusing on the ecology of boreal headwater streams.Because of their small size and intimate connections with surrounding landscape, headwater streams are easily influenced by human activities in catchments and riparian zones.The doctoral student's research will seek to better understand the importance of ecological linkages between aquatic and terrestrial organisms for the stability and resilience of stream ecosystems.Special focus will be on structural and functional relationships between biota and water chemistry and how climate change may alter these relations.
