Join Us in Shaping the Future of Healthcare!
Are you ready to be at the forefront of designing the healthcare landscape of tomorrow? We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative PhD student to contribute to groundbreaking research in healthcare improvements.

Project description
Healthcare is undergoing a transformation, and the future is home-centric. An aging population, coupled with complex health challenges, demands a shift in how we approach healthcare. This is where you come in. New technical solutions enable a more flexible healthcare, wherever and whenever we need. Some examples are digital consultations, mobile healthcare services, self-monitoring in the home, andthe development of both medical technology and digital health.

A shift from hospital care to healthcare at home means that resources can be used better, for the benefit of more people – a more sustainable healthcare system is created – while giving the individual greater opportunity to influence their own illness, care and health. But change also requires both technical and organizational development. At Chalmers, the Area of Advance Health Engineering supports the initiative Hospitals at home that is partly based on a number of ongoing projects at various departments at Chalmers, the project underlying this PhD study will also be parts of this initiative.

Your PhD journey will be closely tied to the research project "Developing hospital care at home: A systems innovation approach to overcome systemic barriers and promote implementation of medical technology solutions". Through multiple case studies framed within a systemic innovation perspective, the project will enhance understanding and capacity to promote a transition towards improved home healthcare. The outcomes will benefit patients, healthcare professionals, and contribute to sustainability through the dissemination of experiences and results.

The focus for the PhD project is contributing to the overall project goal by collaboratively follow, assess and contribute to the improvements of a number of cases in Region Västra Götaland with a focus on how value-creation in healthcare services change when hospital care moves to homes and how various actors involved in the value-creation are affected. Moreover, we envision an action-oriented approach where the research also intends to investigate, suggest and develop necessary alterations and/or additions in working methods, competences, and organization. In practice this means that the research activities will include: conducting interviews and field observations, organizing workshops, developing interventions, and conducting in-depth literature studies.
