PhD Student Position, planning and Optimization of Broadband Radio Access Networks

At Department of Science and Technology, Linköping University, Sweden

Project: The project is aimed at developing concepts, models, methods, and tools for planning and optimization of broadband radio access networks. The development of models and methods require a solid understanding of wireless communication technologies, computer programming, optimization theory, and computer simulation. Applied research within the project involves performance evaluation of models and methods through computational experiments and network simulation, and forms the basis for developing network planning tools.

Knowledge areas used for setting up selection criteria are as follows.

. Wireless communications and wireless networks
. Computer programming
. Mathematical optimization
. Computer simulation
. English

Duties: The PhD student is expected to conduct some duties in addition to research. These duties, among which teaching at undergraduate level is most common, correspond to 20% of full time.

Starting date: The starting date is by mutual agreement. Please indicate preferred starting date in your application. The position is for at most 5 years. The contract is on an annual basis. Decision of extension of the contract is based on a yearly review of achievements.
