PhD student position in Computational Electromag

Arbetsbeskrivning

In today's power electronic systems, the increasing power levels, switching speeds, and integration densities are challenging the design for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In order to cope with this, new numerical simulation approaches become necessary and are applied in the early stages of a design cycle. Luleå University of Technology is working with the development of EMC design methodologies and methods suitable for power electronic system computational electromagnetic analysis. This development is conducted in close cooperation with several international research institutes and universities. Sweden has a leading role in the development of power electronic systems and many companies are starting to investigate different EM modeling and simulation methods. In this project, you/LTU will work in close cooperation with a power electronic company on developing new numerical methods supporting the rapid development of power electronic systems and technologies.

The position will be located at Luleå University of Technology, LTU, and is funded by the Swedish R&D program ELEKTRA.

Work tasks:
As a PhD candidate you will: - evaluate, develop, and implement electromagnetic modeling alternatives for complex power electronic (sub-) systems; - investigate the impact on EMC for new power technologies; - perform measurements at our joint EMC test facilities; Focus will be on equivalent circuit modeling of sub-systems with electromagnetic field couplings.

Qualifications:
Masters/Civ.ing. Electrical engineering (E), Computer science (D), Physics (F), or similar. - Experienced in object oriented programming. - Experience of numerical analysis. - You need to be analytical, flexible, autonomous, and able to work in groups. - Fluent in English.
