Information about the project
A PhD student is wanted for a Chalmers project on “Entrepreneurship in Higher Education”. The main focus of the PhD project is to study and evaluate Chalmers recently decided initiative to offer at least half of all its students entrepreneurial experiences within five years. The overall project is managed by colleagues at Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship with a steering group including Chalmers vice-presidents for higher education (chair) and innovation. Of key research interest is how different educational formats affect different entrepreneurial learning outcomes. The PhD position will have extensive access to Chalmers developments while also accessing entrepreneurial education infused into all levels in the educational system (from primary school to continuous learning) in a variety of countries (such as, Denmark, Norway and the UK).
The focus of the PhD project is empirical study and analysis of different examples of action-based entrepreneurial education. Observations, interviews and questionnaires will be complemented with recent developments as regards formative assessments using specially developed smartphone apps.
As a PhD student you will be hired at the Entrepreneurship and Strategy division at the Department of Technology Management and Economics and belong to the Entrepreneurship Research Group. Research in the group focuses on nascent entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial team formation, venture entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education. The focus is on understanding the nature of entrepreneurship and how it can be cultivated. At the heart of the research is the world-class entrepreneurship and venture creation laboratory - Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship - run by the research group together with Chalmers Ventures. The Entrepreneurship Research Group works with entrepreneurial education research in collaboration with research partners in e.g. Aarhus, Leeds and Lund as well as with educational institutions from primary school to higher education.

Major responsibilities
The PhD student will be expected to:
• Carry out research activities in the project, including writing and presenting publications and theses
• Be an active and contributing member of the research group
• Take PhD courses (75 higher credits) as part of the Doctoral Programme
• Do teaching and other departmental duties amounting to 20% of the position
The PhD student's main responsibility is to pursue his or her own doctoral studies. To do this, the student needs to be highly motivated, have strong analytical and writing skills, and be capable of engaging in collaborations while doing systematic empirical work.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of five years.
Qualifications
To qualify as a PhD student, the applicant must have a master's level degree corresponding to at least 240 higher education credits in a relevant field.
The applicants must also be able to express themselves in English at a high level, both verbally and in writing. A TOEFL-test might be required to demonstrate English proficiency.
If Swedish is not an applicant's native language, s/he should nevertheless be able to communicate in Swedish since much of the empirical work is done in Swedish speaking course-settings
The applicant should be highly motivated to carry out independent research work. In addition, very good social skills are required.
