Arbetsbeskrivning
The Department of Physics has a staff of approximately 90 people.Among them are 12 professors, 28 lecturers, 10 technical/administrative staff, and about 40 PhD students and post docs. The department is involved in undergraduate and graduate education, as well as in research.Active research areas include organic electronics, photonics, condensed matter physics, and several branches of theoretical physics. We are now looking for an exceptional PhD student to work in the field of Organic Electronics and Photonics within the Department of Physics at Umeå University. This is a full-time position over a period of four years, where opportunity for part-time teaching may be offered. The studies will be aimed at the investigation, understanding and development of new types of electronic and light-emitting devices within the emerging field of organic electronics. We are currently working with two main groups of devices using organic conjugated polymers and small molecules as the active material: field-effect transistors and light-emitting electrochemical cells. It is, however, possible that the research will be expanded into related areas of organic electronics in the future. It is therefore considered an advantage if the applicant has previous experience of laboratory work, and we also expect the applicant to have strong skills in oral and written English.Prerequisites include 240 ECTS-credits or equivalent higher education studies, of which 120 ECTS-credits or equivalent in physics. The application should be in English and should include a coverletter with a brief statement of research experience and interests, a CV and two letters of reference (or the names of two referees).Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position is filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format. We look forward to receiving your application!
