The Department of Technology Management and Economics focuses on the interaction between technology and society in an economic and social context. Organization and management of business processes such as logistics, innovation, technology and product development, production and strategic change are key issues. The department has gathered its research in three target areas; Supply Chain Management, Operations Management and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.Information about the research/the project/the division
The Division of Technology and Society is a multidisciplinary division where research is conducted on the complex interplay between technological, economic, and social change. The main empirical focus of the research at the division is Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and current themes include telecommunications policy, the historical development of the information society, the role of ICT in the transition to a sustainable society, and new media entrepreneurship.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibilities as PhD student is to pursue your own doctoral studies. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing, both in Swedish and in English. The position generally also includes teaching on Chalmers' undergraduate level or performing other duties (for example course administration) corresponding to 20 per cent of working hours.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of five years. After one and three years respectively, the Ph.D. student's state of progress will be assessed.
The applicant's research should investigate the roles of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the economy and society. It should be multidisciplinary and international, encompassing conceptual, theoretical and empirical studies, quantitative as well as qualitative. Its scope includes ICT markets; policy, regulation, and governance; management, entrepreneurship, innovation and use. It may explore these topics at national, regional and international levels, including issues confronting both developed and developing countries. The candidate will have a good opportunity to influence his/her specific area of research.
Qualifications
You are a person that is interested in a position with a lot of freedom but also responsibility over your own work. And you are triggered by getting the chance to become the expert in your field of work.
You have a Master's level degree (science, engineering, economics, or business) corresponding to at least 240 higher education (ECTS) credits, earned not more than five years before the application deadline (exceptions will be made for parental leave, military service or similar reasons).
You have good language skills. Communication (orally and written) is important in many aspects of the work, which includes contact with industry, writing scientific papers, presenting in scientific conferences and teaching.
