Information about the research/the project/the division
The division of Production Systems carries out research concerning many aspects of high-performing and sustainable production systems. The research areas of Virtual Production and Production Services focus on research in analysis and decision support systems for efficiency and reliability of production systems. Examples of research topics are:

• Robotsimulation

• Robot programming

• Metrology systems

• Flexible tooling

The arena for research is primarily in Swedish and European manufacturing companies, in international research consortiums and in the Production Systems Laboratory at Chalmers.
Major responsibilities
To participate in national and European research projects in close collaboration with industry. One project is: LOCOMACHS is an EU-project working to shorten lead time in the assembly of carbon fiber components in aircraft industry. The consortium includes 31 companies and institutes in Europe. Another project is: AProC is a Swedish national project focused on developing an intelligent method to catalyze metrology data from measurements taken on an automotive body-in-white factory scenario. After calculated the results from measurements the fixtures in the car structural assembly are to be adjusted in an intelligent and flexible way. AProC involves industrial partners such as Prodtex AB, BoxJoint AB, Volvo Cars and Zeiss.
