PhD student position in Selective Catalytic Reduction

PhD student position in Selective Catalytic Reduction

Arbetsbeskrivning

Access to CO2-free, efficient and clean energy is one of our society's major challenges. In this project we perform research for next generation SCR catalysts, which can enable a large-scale use of hydrogen as an energy carrier. The position will involve collaboration locally, nationally as well as internationally, with both academic and industrial partners.

Project description
This PhD position is within the Competence Centre for Catalysis (KCK), which is an interdisciplinary research centre for catalysis at Chalmers. The goal of the centre is the development of catalytic technologies for sustainable transport, energy, and environmental systems. The centre is integrated with the research and teaching activities at the departments of Physics, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Mechanics and Maritime Science at Chalmers. KCK strives to provide an excellent environment for carrying out catalysis research with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers in related projects or with industry partners. The projects are conducted in collaboration with our member companies Johnson Matthey, Perstorp, Powercell, Preem, Scania CV, Umicore and Volvo Group.

Information about the division and the department
The position will be located at the division of Applied Chemistry at the department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. This position will be focused on experimental kinetic and mechanistic studies of SCR catalysts and be conducted in close collaboration with the division of Applied Chemistry in a dynamic and international environment striving for scientific excellence through teamwork between research leaders active in the fields of catalysis.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as PhD student is to perform research within the project at Applied Chemistry. Collaboration with theoretical and experimental efforts in the division of Applied Chemistry at Chalmers and with collaborating groups at Chalmers and other universities, and with companies is also included in the position. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry and the public sector.

Qualifications
(1) MSc in Chemistry, Material Science or Physics, or MSc in Engineering Chemistry, Material Science or Physics, not older than two years
(2) Expertise in experimental work in Chemistry, Material Science or Physics
(3) Good communication skills in written and spoken English
(4) Able to work independently as well as in teams and take responsibility for progress and quality of the project

Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of five years.
