PhD student position in Thermal transport study on graphene film...

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience focuses on research, innovation and education within the fields of future electronics, photonics, bio- and nanosystems. A close collaboration with Swedish and international partners within academy, industry and society enables scientific excellence and creates an innovative environment. In addition to the 200 researchers and PhD students, MC2 houses a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication with the latest equipment.

Information about the division
The Electronics Materials and Systems Laboratory has spent its major research effort in a number of strategic areas; microelectronics materials and packaging, micro- and nanosystem device fabrication and characterization, and material physics. The group is involved in different EU projects as well as national projects such as Horizon 2020 programs: “Smartherm, SmartMemphis, Record-IT”, VR, SSF, Vinnova and Wallenberg Foundation Funded programs.

Job description
One of our main research specializations is graphene-based materials for material enhancement, especially to improve mechanical, electrical and thermal properties. There are two parts of work invloved in this PhD study, one is to synthesis and characterization of graphene-based films, as well as to develop new functional bonding phase to adhere the graphene film on the contacting surface; the second one is to develop well-dispersed functionalized graphene in polymer and other matrix to reinforce the strength, electrical and thermal performance. The work is to be done mostly in Electronics Materials and Systems Laboratory and involves broad hands-on activities.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of five years.

Qualifications
Strong background in Chemical Science and engineering. Experience in chemical laboratory work, familiar with chemical reactions and experimental procedures for graphene and graphene oxide etc is to be preferred.  The work contains intensive interactions with other PhD students and colleagues, so communication skills and the ability to team work is essential.

To qualify as a PhD student, you must have a master's level degree corresponding to at least 240 higher education credits in a relevant field.
