PhD student in the area of Risk classification of buildings
Steel Structure research group deals with research project in area of steel and composite steel-concrete structures. Stability of steel structures at room and elevated temperatures, bridges, connections, Finite Element modelling are areas where previous PhD theses were made. Almost all of our projects have been partially internationally financed. Development of new concepts for resistance of structural elements at elevated temperatures, and devel-opment of the fire in the enclosed areas are topics where the PhD student will work.
Our main objective is to development sustainable construction by structural innovation. PhD students have big opportunities to self define a way to deal with everyday tasks. They will gain experience in the international pro-ject management in addition to the research studies. The research study consists of courses at the postgraduate level, experimental work in Complab laboratory and numerical work. As a researcher you will work to prepare design recommendations for structural engineers based on Eurocodes. You will be involved in graduate studies in area of structural engineering.
Your education has to be at level of Master of Science in Structural engineering, Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar. Understanding of numerical methods and experience in using software based on CFD and FEM are advantageous.
