Ph.D. Studentship in Signal Processing

Arbetsbeskrivning

Nuclear quadrupole resonance is a radio frequency technique offering an unequivocal method of detecting the presence of many forms of high explosives, narcotics, and drugs.Although the technique faces problems with interference and with very low signal-to-noise ratios, the unique signal signature offers, in principle, exceptionally high probability of detection for a given false alarm rate. The current project is aimed to further develop the signal analysis as well as investigate new robust and reliable detection schemes with the goal of improving the reliability and accuracy of the detection. The project is conducted in close cooperation with King's College London and is funded by the Swedish Research Council. Apart from working with your research project, you will study Ph.D.courses and participate in the undergraduate education.Applicants should have a Masters degree in Engineering (or similar competence) with interests in model-based signal processing.Since the project focuses on statistical signal processing, and in particular estimation and detection theory, experience of these fields is meriting. The studentship is formally within the Department of Physics, with a placement in the Department of Electrical Engineering. The objective of the studentship is to obtain the Licentiate degree in Physics, with a possible extension to obtain a Ph.D.degree.The time period for the position is limited to three years. The position is subject to necessary decision.
