Arbetsbeskrivning
Information about the research
You will work in a highly dynamic research environment at the interface between biology and mathematics to address central problems of cellular regulations. Mathematical modelling and biological experiments will be closely integrated in most of the work. Experimental research will employ a diverse set of analytical methods in molecular biology and biochemistry as well as bioimaging. Dynamic mathematical models will be employed to rationalise data and generate hypotheses for experimental testing. The main aim of the project is to adress key questions in an underexplored field of cell biology, i.e. the integration of central metabolism with cell regulation via signal transduction pathways. The project will offer you training in a wide range of front-line experimental methods and mathematical modelling. Together with the course programme at the bioscience research school this training will furnsih you for a range of academic as well private and public sector carrier opportunities.
Major responsibilities
You will perform the experimental studies within the project and collaborate with mathematicians on the modelling parts. You will be responsible for driving this collaboration.
Duties as teaching assistant may occur at a smaller scale. PhD studies include a course programme of 60 points.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of five years.
Qualifications
Master in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, systems biology or similar; experience with different analytical techniques in molecular biology or cell biology. Previous work with yeast as experimental organism as well as an interest or experience in mathematical modelling would be complementary merits.
