Would you like to play a major role in creating how and where we meet our customers in the future. IKEA is on a mission to enter the top 30 cities with new, innovative ways of meeting the customer. In this exciting role, you will ensure and enable efficient planning of new CMP (Customer Meeting Point) concepts that present our range in a vital, inspiring way and fitting the multichannel retail world of IKEA.
To be successful as our new Global Expansion Planning Manager we believe you have extensive experience in developing businesses and delivering results on strategic level in a large-scale global retailing context. You have the know-how of store design and the retail establishment process comes naturally to you. You know how to lead change in a complex business environment, and you have experience in establishing new CMP with full speed in an expanding organisation.
We see that you are someone with a strong commercial mindset and bring extensive knowledge in retailing, efficient CMP operations as well as how to take advantage of digital technology in a multichannel retail landscape. Being an experienced leader, you bring experience in how to set direction, create and manage long-term goals and follow up on business success factors.
As a person you are highly analytical and get energized by increasing customer value, driving business growth and contributing to overall success and results through people. You enjoy working together and you are familiar with globally leading through co-creation with colleagues in an ever-changing multidimensional environment.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Global Expansion Planning Manager will be responsible for the preparation and planning of new CMPs and the major restructuring of existing stores, based on our most recent home furnishing and merchandising solutions, as well as secure large scale expansion planning deliveries.
You will:
• Take the leading role for central planning of new CMPs and major rebuilds according to the global expansion plan
• Ensure an aligned delivery plan that strengthens the future direction in each “market”
• Ensure and enable efficient planning of CMPs that present the range in a vital, inspiring way fitting the needs of the many and that enable access to the whole range in a multichannel retail world of IKEA.
• Secure that the Central Planning Hub team provides subject matter support to the country teams, keeping them informed on planned deliveries and together with the countries enable an infusion of relevant, actionable retail trends into the business
• Secure that the Central Planning Hub team is at the forefront of new solutions and new technology in order to optimise customer experience and efficiency of CMPs
• Secure market input for expansion planning and design process for major rebuilds and new establishment
• Lead, coach and develop a large (around 115 co-worker’s), high performing team that will strongly contribute to reach the objectives and goals in Group Expansion
• Lead positive change, and contribute to building a more unique, inclusive and accessible IKEA - guided by the People and Planet Positive commitments
This is a permanent, full-time role based in our office “Hubhult” , Malmö, Sweden. You will be part of the INGKA Group Expansion management team have around 115 co-workers in the unit you will lead and have four senior managerial direct reports.

With the customer at the heart of everything we do, Group Expansion takes responsibility for strategic expansion planning enabling penetration of existing and new markets. We take the lead for business development of existing and new customer meeting points. We act on business needs and empower the markets to maximise accessibility, implement our retailing concepts and fully utilise our assets in the new world of IKEA – all at lowest cost, with economy of scale and sustained profitability.
