To be successful in this role you have proven advance training in Project Management, Retail Layout or equivalent and minimum 5 years’ experience of developing businesses, delivering results and leading retail establishment projects successfully. We also like you to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience leading and influencing both teams and business leaders and you are skilled working in a multicultural environment.
You have knowledge in:
• Extensive knowledge of the Retail Establishment Process
• Strong IKEA commercial knowledge and knowledge of the customer journey
• Strong Project management competence
• Strong leadership capabilities and experience of leading people and teams in large projects, retail business or similar operation.
• Experience from work related to retail operation ensuring new CMP’s operate at the most efficient way.
• IKEA Leadership and Management tools and methods.
• How to take advantage of digital technology in a multichannel retail landscape
• How to create and implement change initiatives and manage stakeholders in IKEA
• IKEA concept, brand objectives, values and vision
• IKEA multichannel shopping experience
• Ingka Group strategies, priorities and strategic expansion planning process
As a person you know how to lead and build trustful relationships through strong interpersonal skills and you have good communication and presentation skills. The ability to prioritise and make decisions with speed and simplicity comes natural to you. You also have an ability to take a holistic view of a global organisation and to identify business opportunities accordingly.
Your responsibilities
In the role as Planning Project Leader you will be part of creating the future IKEA by leading project preparation and planning of new customer meeting points (CMPs) and major rebuilds based on our most recent home furnishing and merchandising solutions.
You will:
• be responsible to lead a high performing group of specialists throughout the project with focus on design and planning of retailing solutions in new CMPs and major rebuilds.
• lead the expansion process with focus on architectural design, commercial planning, procurement and fit out and retail build up and secure that deliverables meet time plans, scope and quality.
• lead and coordinate Commercial planning team, Procurement demand specialist, Establishment specialist, CMP Planning specialist and Customer experience specialist on a project level
• establish a close cooperation with Country Project Leaders and be the main speaking partner throughout the project
• secure appropriate communication to different stakeholders and receivers by reporting project-status on a regular basis to relevant governance forums.
• work closely with and manage relevant stakeholders within Group Expansion, other group functions and Inter IKEA Core Business Franchise (CBF).
• coach and support countries in order to optimize project results and to enable sharing of best practices across country organisations
• work with latest solutions developed by Market Support and Group Expansion planning team
• work with the market organisation to secure that designed solutions are aligned with Market pre-requisites
• take lead in working across functions within Ingka Group and collaborate with other IKEA units
• take lead in driving an open and sharing climate, being a role model of the IKEA values
• lead positive change, and contribute to building a more unique, inclusive and accessible IKEA - guided by the People and Planet Positive commitments
This role is located in Malmö and will report to the Planning Project Manager.

With the customer at the heart of everything we do, Group Expansion takes responsibility for strategic expansion planning enabling penetration of existing and new markets. We take the lead for business development of existing and new customer meeting points. We act on business needs and empower the markets to maximise accessibility, implement our retailing concepts and fully utilise our assets in the new world of IKEA – all at lowest cost, with economy of scale and sustained profitability.
