Hitachi ABB Power Grids, HVDC is expanding the Plant Lead Engineering team. As a Plant Lead Engineer, you are leading and motivating an engineering team and act as a problem solver. Your main task will be to have an overall understanding and responsibility of the Plants engineering scope, technical solutions and/or Offshore wind scope towards the platform supplier.
It is a fantastic work with a lot of various challenges, where you build a good network and get a lot of opportunities. You will interact daily with different functions, not only your closest engineering team, but also with interface teams such as civil construction, system engineering, project management, supply and for offshore also with the platform supplier. The work can require some travel to meet customers as well as to project sites that will deepen your technical competence, and your leadership knowledge.
Our projects are all over the world. You can be part of our tenders with duration of a couple of months to a couple of years until we receive the contract for the project. Typical project durations are three to five years and includes all the way from design to support for installation and commissioning.
Your responsibilities
Drive a tender or a project and represent the Plants engineering
Have overall technical understanding and responsibility of the Plants technical solution and deliverables for either two HVDC land stations or a land station and an offshore platform
Technical coordination with Plants departments; Electromechanical design (overall HVDC station design of placement of equipment in CAD layouts), Station auxiliary power (incl. cables between HVDC equipment, auxiliary transformers, diesels, batteries etc.), Civil design and auxiliary systems (incl. fire system, climate system, security system etc.)
Responsible together with your team to deliver the technical tender work or project deliverables to end customer
Ensure we get a good overall solution, in close collaboration with the design teams
Technical coordination with offshore platform supplier if that is in the scope
For offshore wind being responsible for the technical interface towards the offshore platform supplier and handle the platform specific tasks according to scope of work towards the Platform supplier and coordinate internal and external interfaces within engineering related to this
Support the team and make sure we follow processes, control changes, handling risks & deviations and follow up on progress

Your background
You hold Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering
Several years of work experience within energy field, electrical power, electromechanical design, auxiliary power design or civil design for large projects
Knowledge of HVDC technology and experience from the design process for HVDC projects is advantageous
Experience from substations, high voltage products, HVDC or offshore wind connections, is an advantage
Good if you have experience from participation in site work, commissioning and testing and have leadership experience
Technical coordinating and leading engineering disciplines within tenders and projects
Project Management experience or leading a team is an advantage
Willingness to travel
