Arbetsbeskrivning
MAJOR DUTIES:
The incumbent follows and analyzes political development in Sweden and keeps the Political Section, Front Office, and the Nordic-Baltic (NB) Desk in Washington informed of matters of interest to the U.S. The incumbent provides recommendations to the Embassy on political and social developments. The incumbent consults with contacts and information sources to draft analytical reports on Sweden's political situation, including the domestic political debate and changes within political parties. The incumbent offers recommendations and helps arrange programs for USG officials and officers traveling in/to Sweden on official business.
EDUCATION:
University degree, preferably law or political science.
Knowledge about EU and Sweden's political systems needed or strong interest to acquire such.
Prior Work Experience:
Two-three years of work experience in government offices or similar.
Language Proficiency:
Excellent English and Swedish, both written and oral, are essential.
Job Knowledge:
Experience from previous work in areas covered by the portfolio is desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to conduct research and write reports with a minimum of supervision. Self-starter: able to produce short reports without being tasked. Incumbent must demonstrate good interpersonal skills; experience working on a team or in a management is desirable.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
1. This position is available to Swedish nationals or permanent legal residents as well as
to American citizens with permanent residence permits in Sweden, under the terms of
the Rockefeller amendment authorizing Embassies to hire Americans abroad for FSN
positions, and Embassy American Family Members.
2. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
3. Applicants are selected for appointment on the basis of the education, experience, and suitability for the position to be filled.
4. Applicants are subject to limited security investigation and clearance.
