The Faculty of Medicine is one of five faculties of Umeå University.The faculty is an organization for education and research groups in the fields of medicine, odontology and health care.It comprises 13 departments, 2 research centers and 12 academic programmes.Within the faculty there are about 3 000 undergraduate and 650 graduate students.About 1 000 people are employed here, among them about 500 teachers/researchers.A temporary (2 year) postdoctoral post has become available at the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Neuroscience.The position, starting on 1 March 2008 (although this date is negotiable) is within a research project using RNA interference techniques for the study of the function of the endocannabinoid system in mammalian cultures.The ultimate goal of the project is to provide new pharmacological strategies for the early treatment of traumatic injury.The position offers you: - the opportunity to work in an internationally well-known endocannabinoid research group - the opportunity to live in one of Sweden's fastest growing cities, with a rich variety of sporting and cultural activities on your doorstep The position requires of you: - a working knowledge of siRNA and its use in cultured mammalian cells.Experience of the application of such techniques to primary and organotypical cell cultures will be considered as a merit - the ability to interact with other group members and to have good skills in the teaching of - the siRNA technique to PhD students - a good knowledge of the English language The definition of "Post-doc / experienced researcher" is a scientist who has actively been involved in research for a total period of 4-10 years.Swedish citizens are not eligible for this post.The contract is limited to 24 months.For more information, contact Prof.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.We look forward to receiving your application!
