Arbetsbeskrivning
The unit for Hydrological Research works in Sweden, Europe and worldwide with developing Water and Climate services based on forecast and scenario tools. We calculate variability in water resources, climate change impacts, and water quality in catchments. The work done here aims to improve decision support for physical planning and environmental control, as well as forecasting for flood warning services and the hydropower industry. We work directly with both external end-users and SMHI’s more operational divisions. The unit has some 30 employees from 13 countries.
We are now looking forward to employ a scientist with experience in water and climate research for developing our water and climate services in Sweden and internationally. You will contribute to on-going projects with international collaboration in Europe and world-wide. The work will mainly consist of development and calibration of large-scale hydrological (rainfall-runoff) models and operational management of large data volumes to be evaluated and used for research as well as different applications (e.g. forecasts and climate impacts). The work includes programming, scientific analysis and publishing in scientific journals.
The position is temporary for 2 years, starting in April 2020 (or as soon as possible after that), with 100% working time and located in Norrköping.

Education in statistics, spatial analysis and quality assurance is a merit. You have a deep understanding of hydrological processes at catchment scale and landscape level. You have good knowledge in programming linked to water and climate research and experience in handling big data. You have a documented continuous production of scientific papers. We value skills in giving presentations and lectures, team work, agile approaches and delivery of results in a timely and qualitative manner. Well-developed professional international networks is a merit. You have a work permit for Sweden (EU).
