Research:
The Department of Molecular Sciences, SLU, Uppsala approximately 110 employees and together with two other departments forms an inspiring research environment at the BioCenter at the Ultuna campus in Uppsala. Here you will find expertise in plant biology, mycology, plant pathology, microbiology, food science, calculation-based genetics, chemistry and biotechnology and competitive infrastructure such as plant-growing facilities, advanced microscopy and molecular biology, x-ray and NMR. Duities:
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow for a project on microbiological analysis of biogas plants. The analysis includes analysis of different biogas processes and digestates from storage tanks. The main task is to evaluate DNA-based methods to identify connections between microbial composition and methane production. The work includes DNA extractions, preparation of sequencing libraries for illumina, qPCR analysis, and primer design as well as processing, analysis and compilation of data and writing scientific articles. The work will be carried out at the department of molecular sciences.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD in biology/microbiology and documented competence in molecular biology. Skills related to DNA extraction of biogas samples, illumina sequencing and qPCR are requirements. The project is carried out in collaboration with industry and advisers, and knowledge of Swedish is a merit. The project is also performed in a larger research group and applicants should have a good ability to cooperate with others in the group but also to work independently. Some supervision of doctoral students is included in the work.
