Umeå University - with its 29,000 students and over 4,000 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.Umeå University conducts groundbreaking research within several areas - several in which we are among the best in the world - within others regarded as the leaders in Sweden.We are one of Sweden's largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Post-doc position (2 years) in comparative genomics in Populus The Department of Ecology and Environmental Science has about 170 members including including 50 PhD students.For more information see the department's homepage: www.emg.umu.se/en.See also www.umea.se for a general presentation of Umeå and the University.We are looking for a post-doc to be involved in sequencing multiple genomes of European aspen (Populus tremula).The postdoc will be in charge of managing the genome sequencing project and will coordinate sequencing and post-sequencing data analyses (assembly, SNP discovery) with KTH.The project will also involve design of an SNP chip for P. tremula and SNP genotyping of our large collection of naturally occurring P. tremula genotypes.We are looking for a person with strong bioinformatics and data analysis skills.Past experience with Populus genomics and with comparative genomics is considered a great advantage.To qualify for the position you should have a PhD degree or equivalent, preferably not more than three years old.Your application, in English, must include a short summary (max 1 page) of your previous experience, a short description (max.1 page) of how you could contribute to the research, a curriculum vitae with a list of publications, and names and contact details of three references.The position is available from July 1, 2009.For further information, please contact Dr.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.
