Dnr 315-1056-09 A post-doctoral position at Umeå Plant Science Centre in xylem proteomics (1 year) The post doctoral project deals with programmed cell death of xylem elements in the vascular tissues of plants and its impact on wood formation in forest trees.The aim of the project is to focus on the function of a metacaspase protein in the control of cell death of xylem elements using various biochemical and molecular techniques such as proteomic analysis and reverse and forward genetic approaches both in Arabidopsis thaliana and in Populus.The position is placed at Umeå University at the department of Plant Physiology, which is part of Umea Plant Science Centre (www.upsc.se).UPSC is a vibrant and international research centre within plant and forest experimental biology and biotechnology.To qualify for the position, the applicant should have received a PhD degree not more than three years ago in molecular biology, biochemistry, technical biology or biomedicine.The requested experimental skills include proteomic analysis and a solid background in Arabidopsis reverse and forward genetics.Previous experience on plant proteases is preferred.Good social skills, ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others and good skills in English language are valued.Applicants should submit a Curriculum Vitae, a statement of previous research achievements, a research plan for the project, a publication list and two letters of reference.Questions or inquires about the position can be answered by Hannele Tuominen, tel.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.
