Department of Plant Breeding
The Department of Plant Breeding teach and perform strategic and applied research on horticultural and agricultural crops with the aim to provide knowledge, tools and products for a bio-based economy, improved environment and human health. In the plant breeding division we use a wide range of both conventional and modern breeding technologies, ranging from field experiments and evaluation of genetic diversity to genetic, omics, biotechnological, biochemical and physiological approaches.
Duties:
The Post-Doc will conduct research within a Nordic collaborative project between SLU and several Nordic research institutes and private plant breeding companies. The work will focus on analyzing existing large genotypic and phenotypic datasets and to, perform genome-wide association studies for diseases and other agronomic traits in spring barley.
Qualifications:
For this position, you must have received your PhD degree not more than five years prior to the deadline of this application and have a research focus in plant breeding, genetics, quantitative genetics, bioinformatics, biometrics or similar and with a strong experience in association genetics. An expertise in Plant Pathology, especially on barley leaf diseases, and of statistical tools such as R is a merit. You should have contributed to research through publications in peer reviewed international journals and have the ability to work both as part of a team as well as independently, organizing work efficiently and prioritizing workload.
