Umeå University, in northern Sweden, is a dynamic university with ca.3,800 employees and 29,000 students, of which 1,300 are in PhD programs.The Department of Ecology and Environmental Science has about 170 members including 55 PhD researches and 55 PhD students (for more information see the department's homepage: www.emg.umu.se/index_eng.html.See also the International office, www.umu.se/international_office for a general presentation of Umeå and the University.Post-Doc position in Ecology We are offering a Post-doc position to join a research project studying interactions between forestry and reindeer husbandry.The successful candidate will work with quantifying effects of forestry on the winter grazing grounds of reindeer, with a specific focus on lichen abundance and availability.A large part of the project will deal with analysing already existing data sets, but some field work may also be involved.The project is funded by Formas (The Swedish Research Council Formas).To qualify for this position you need a PhD degree in ecology or a similar subject field.Further, you need to show a successful track record of publications and an ability to work independently.Experiences in statistical modelling and/or GIS-analysis will be considered as merits.The position is for a 12-month period (prolongation may be possible), and starting as soon as possible.Your application, in English, must include a short summary (max.1 page) of your previous research experiences, your curriculum vitae, a maximum of three publications from refereed international journals, and names and contact details (telephone and email) of two suitable academic reference persons.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.Your complete application, marked with ref.We look forward to receiving your application!
